GLSA FC 1974 Libertyville Fall Quarterly Newsletter

Welcome to the 2022 Fall edition of the Greater Libertyville Soccer Association Quarterly Newsletter. We had a wonderful fall season welcoming new partnerships and additions to the GLSA and FC 1974 programs.

Libertyville Township Soccer Complex

  • Changed our field fertilization program to fertilize monthly which keeps the grass growing at a steady rate and the fields consistently green throughout the season.
  • Through an energy savings program with Comed, we were able to switch all field lights on fields 1, 2, 3, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 to LED bulbs, thereby giving our players a much better experience playing at night.
  • Completed the change of Field 8 to high-level game only field to host high level natural surface games. This field is now one of the top grass fields in Illinois.

Recreational Program

  • Our Recreational soccer program had a great fall season topping 800 players. Many thanks to the volunteer coaches, field marshals and concession stand volunteers that really help make playing at GLSA a fantastic experience every week….and the sunshine!
  • We were very excited this year to host a product sampling from our new jersey sponsor, Entenmann’s, and hope to do more in the future.
  • Our Recreational Adult League continues to go strong with over 200 adult players that can participate in the game they love.
  • Our Fall Top Soccer Program was once again in full swing as 15 players were able to enjoy the world’s beautiful game.

FC 1974 Competitive Program

  • Our FC 1974 Program continues to grow in stature both on and off the field.
  • We have partnered with Grupo Bimbo as our jersey sponsor – as a partner they are not just a jersey sponsor, but they have offered wind banners, signage around the complex and field boards that you may have seen on field 1. Additionally, they have given product samplings and product giveaways. Our teams just love to take photos in front of the field boards.
  • We also partnered with Pink Panther Logistics, a trucking and logistics company out of Lake Bluff to add their logo onto the back of our training shirts. This perfectly coincides with our newly updated dri-fit training shirts, which so many members have asked for. Look for Pink Panther to be much more or a complex presence in the spring.
  • On the field, our u13-u19 Elite Girls teams have begun competition in two new platforms this  Fall. We are competing in the newly created USYS National Elite 64 league and the regional division of the Elite Clubs National League competition. Several of our teams are in contention to finish near the top of their respective divisions and qualify for regional or national advancement.
  • Congratulations to our young local teams to have won their fall league seasons and will be promoted in the spring. In the IWSL, U8 Girls Orange, U9 Girls Black 1, U12 Girls Select, in the YSSL, U8 Boys Orange, U10 Boys Orange, U10 Boys Black 2, U15 Boys Fall Team. U13 Boys Elite won their Midwest Conference Regional League
  • Congratulations to our teams who were crowned Tournament Champions this fall season!

Palatine Celtic Champions: U9 Girls Orange
Barrington Classic Champions: U10 Boys Orange
Octoberfest Champions: U10 Boys Orange, U10 Boys Black 2, U11 Girls Elite, U12 Girls Select, U14 Girls SelectKenosha Harvestfest Champions: U9 Girls Orange, U12 Girls Elite, U11 Boys Elite

  • In IYSA State Cup our U15 Girls Elite lost in the Semifinals and our U17 Girls Elite lost in the Finals.
  • In ENCL Regional League, our U15, U16 and U17 Girls Elite have finished in the top 2 and have qualified for ECNL Regionals next summer. These teams are also on track to finish in the top 2 of USYS Elite 64 which would qualify them for Elite 64 Nationals next summer.
  • Our Fall Friendly Tournament in August was our first hosted event of the year and while it was small, it was an event that took over from the Chicago Fire. We love the concept of getting games in the beginning of the season while playing in a relaxed atmosphere and plan to build out this event in the future.
  • It has been a long time since we have hosted the level of tournament that we have been accustomed to, but this fall we hosted a very successful Octoberfest Classic Tournament. The tournament featured over 260 teams who played for 48 Championships in ages u9-u19. This tournament was a success on many levels.
  • Calendar year 2022 has been very successful for our club, we have won two National Championships, improved our facilities, improved our staff, and continued to build our reputation both on and off the field as one of the top programs in the region. We are looking forward to a bright 2023.

Thank you all for being a part of the club. Executive Director, Michael Zovistoski
