FC1974 Selects Simply Bee To Be Their Mental Sports Performance Program For Players, Coaches and Parents

We are excited to announce a new partnership with a local mental wellness group, Simply Bee. Their mental sports performance programming is in alignment with our mission to provide and promote a positive soccer experience for every participant both physically and mentally. We feel strongly that our mission is inclusive of not only our players' experiences on the field and inside of our club – but also off the field with their mental wellness and interests beyond athletics.

Simply Bee focuses on changing lives through programs, services and resources for athletes, parents and coaches to recognize, achieve and sustain high performance and personal well-being. Starting March through May, FC1974 will offer 45 minute mental performance webinar trainings to all of their players, coaches and parents. Their goal is to focus on the whole athlete and family system in an effort to produce not just great athletes, but also healthy young-adults and families.

Simply Bee’s Mental Growth and Resilience Sports Program streamlines the natural connection between mental performance and mental health. This allows athletes, coaches and parents to quickly leverage a growth mindset to optimize physical ability AND mental capacity to compete at a high level without sacrificing mental well-being. ‘We are very excited to partner with Simply Bee’, said Executive Director, Michael Zovistoski, ‘we continue to look for ways to better develop our players both on and off the field and believe they will benefit from mental health training that Simply Bee can provide.'

Mental health is growing in the sports world as more professional athletes like Simone Biles, Dak Prescott, Naomi Osaka and Brandon Marshall, break their silence and share the reality of anxiety, depression, stress management, fear of failure, worry, pressure and isolation. This trend towards open conversations between athletes, coaches and parents–where honesty is key–benefits athletes by teaching them tools and coping mechanisms to better deal with life as a whole person–not just a soccer player.

For athletes, coaches and parents in this pressure cooker society, it’s ever so important to learn practical, efficient and generalizable skills from mental health experts who know firsthand what it means to be a competitive player. The partnership between FC1974 and Simply Bee allows for an opportunity to train, support and coach budding adults to simply bee-come the best versions of themselves on and off the field.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more info on this program and what to expect. In the meantime, please mark your calendars for March 7th, April 4th and May 9th from 7:00-7:45pm for the virtual webinar mental performance trainings with Audrey Grunst, LCSW & CEO and Eric Stevenson, LPC of Simply Bee, both former collegiate athletes.
