Congratulations to all of the participants, parents, volunteers and coaches who helped make the 1st Annual GLSA Soccerthon an overwhelming success. Roughly 275 Club players participated in the event and through their combined effort, raised over $30,000 to benefit the GLSA Scholarship Fund and Tee Up For Timmy Foundation. During the night, the kids played some outstanding soccer, had a great time scampering up the climbing wall, putting the inflatables through a stiff test and playing pick-up 3v3 and soccer tennis. It was a great night for all concerns and it is very gratifying to know that the Greater Libertyville Soccer Association is not only a leader within the soccer community, but a pioneer within the community. A special thanks to the Soccerthon Committee who spent countless hours in preperation for the event to make sure every detail was accounted for and the children were taken care of throughout the event, as well as those coaches, Board Members and parents who spent the entire night managing the event.

The Greater Libertyville Soccer Association is proud to conclude the first annual 12hour Soccerthon Fundraiser. The Soccerthon is a 12hour event, meant to be fun and rewarding for our players, as well as promote club unity. In addition, GLSA's ultimate goal is to raise funds to benefit two important areas of need; the GLSA Scholarship Program and the Tee Up for Timmy Cancer Foundation (TUFT). Over the past few years, GLSA has seen a steady increase in requests for financial assistance for player fees. Unfortunately the current state of the economy doesn't trend an improvement any time soon. Funds raised will help GLSA continue to meet the needs of our families in the future, providing an opportunity for every child to play the game of soccer regardless of their economic situation. In addition, to the Scholarship Program, funds raised will also benefit The TUFT Foundation. TUFT was created in 1994 to celebrate the life of Tim Holevas, who lost a courageous battle with cancer that year. Like many cancer victims, Tim endured numerous hospitalizations, myriad medication changes, remissions, reoccurrences, and the overwhelming upheaval to his life that this disease exacts. Throughout the long battle, Tim struggled to maintain a "normal" life. He remained committed to a close-knit group of friends, without whose support, he would never have lived such a vital and rewarding life. The TUFT Foundation was formed in his honor and to remember and honor friends and family who have been stricken by cancer - those who survived and those whose lives were lost. Within the TUFT Foundation, half of the proceeds raised are donated to the American Cancer Society, with the other half given to individuals through grants in efforts to ease the financial burden placed on families.
