Staff Coach Email: salvador.gloria@abbott.com BIO: Sal Gloria grew up playing soccer in Waukegan, IL. As a youth soccer player, he played competitively on the Waukegan Police Traveling team. Under the direction of Coach Rommel Guzman, Sal was a four year varsity starter at Waukegan East High School. During his high school career, Sal set many records that still stand today including most goals and assists in one season. During Sal’s senior year in high school, he was named to the 1st team All-state and 1st team All-American teams. Sal received a full soccer scholarship to play at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. During his collegiate career, he was again a four year starter. In his senior year of college, Sal had the honor of being coached by Dennis Violet, who played professionally for many years for Manchester United in England. Sal was voted MVP for 3 straight years at Jacksonville University and was later honored by being placed on Jacksonville University’s “All-Decade” team. Sal graduated from Jacksonville University with a double major in Marketing and Management.Sal has been coaching for the GLSA and Eclipse organizations since 2001. He currently holds a USSF National “D” license. Sal is married and has a son (Sal Jr.) and daughter (Jasmine) who are both currently playing on Libertyville Premier teams. The family resides in Waukegan and enjoys spending quality time together at the soccer fields. |
