BIO:

Derek Niepomnik attended Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois where he a high school All-American (1990) and a 2 time Illinois All-State Selection (1989/1990). After High School, Niepomnik earned a division 1 college scholarship to play soccer at Northern Illinois University. While at NIU he was a 4 year starter. In 1996 Niepomnik went on to play professionally in the USISL for the Rockford Raptors until 1998.

After his playing career, Niepomnik took on collegiate coaching and today has 11 years of coaching experience. His coaching career began in 1996 when he served as the NIU Assistant Women’s coach for 3 years. In 1998 Niepomnik went on to the University of Cincinnati where he spent a year as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach. After several years of collegiate coaching experience Niepomnik took the Assistant Men’s coaching job at St. Bonaventure University (New York).

He returned back to his alma mater in 2000 to serve as the Assistant Men’s coach. After 2 seasons at NIU, Niepomnik took another coaching opportunity at Benedictine University where he spent 3 years as the Head Men's Soccer Coach. Most recently, Niepomnik was the Head Men's Coach at Lake Forest College from 2006 - summer 2009.

Niepomnik is also the Director of FC Twente3 College Developmental Program, an under 23 men's and women's summer program that was established in 2004. (www.fctwente3.com)

Niepomnik currently holds a USSF “A” license and an NSCAA Advanced Youth National Diploma.  He lives in Lake Zurich, IL with is wife Emily and three children.
