Pierced Ears and Soccer
FIFA Laws of the Game under Safety states that "A player must not use equipment
or wear anything which is dangerous to himself or another player (including any
kind of jewelry)."
Please note that GLSA will enforce this rule for all games. All jewelry must be
removed - this includes earrings from newly pierced ears. The Board of Directors
of the Greater Libertyville Soccer Association holds the position that the
taping over earrings in pierced ears is contrary to the laws of the game and
will not be allowed.
Referees are taught that no jewelry of any kind is allowed and that the taping
or band aiding of earrings in newly pierced ears is not allowed.
We suggest that if you are considering getting your child's ears pierced that
you do so at least one month prior to the start of games or wait until after the
season ends.
Thank you for your understanding in keeping safety a priority.
